I remember the first time Emerald shared her work with me nearly a year and a half ago. She had surprised me by illustrating a few of my photographs and was eager to show them to me. Ever since that moment, I have been mesmerized by her breath taking illustrations. Emerald has an inexplicable style; often infusing her work with an almost haunting flatness, with an equally profound depth and then suddenly unexpected bursts of color. On a lazy afternoon, I visited the artist and her studio in her Museum District apartment.

Along with other local artists, Emerald will be live illustrating tomorrow evening at Quirk Gallery from 6-9pm. Also, don’t forget to reblog THIS POST to be eligible for a chance to win an original piece.
