On a drizzly Friday evening two weeks ago, Need Supply Co. hosted an eclectic quartet of independent designers and brands, Collina Strada, In God We Trust, Courtshop Denim, and Dusen Dusen, at their Carytown store. The event was part of Need Supply Co’s ongoing Meet the Makers Series, which serves as a way to introduce customers to the people behind the brand. Each designer developed an exclusive product for the store and guests were treated to an amazing evening of conversation, food, and a live performance from Nelly Kate.

The next Meet The Maker event will be held THIS FRIDAY with Samantha Pleet and for more from this night, visit a new and one of my favorite Richmond blogs, wearewideeyes.tumblr.com.
Shameless self promotion: In a city where everyone is a DJ, Allison Good and I are no exception. DJing a rare set at Bonvenu THIS FRIDAY! We’ll be playing mostly hip-hop but also classics from the good days (2002), pop stuff, and probably Ja Rule.
UPDATE: My set with Allison is from 12:45-Close

The idea behind Feast RVA is simple; donate $25 for a catered dinner by Sticky To-Go-Go and Cellar Door, receive drinks, listen to 3 pitches, and vote ballot style to choose a winner to receive $500 to help fund their creative project. Inspired by a similar initiative in Brooklyn, Johnny Hugel and Josh Epperson thought of bringing FEAST to Richmond as a way to help bring the city together and to identify and reward the variety of creative projects coming out of Richmond, Virginia. Before dinner, Rebecca Johnson, Anna Wittel, and Nicole Lang each presented their perspective projects to an attentive audience with support of audio, visual, and even edible accompaniment.

While discussing the projects over dinner, music was provided by “The Bird and her Consort” featuring Antonia Begonia, The Bird, and her husband, Jonathan Vassar. As described on their website: “They use their talents with accordion, guitar, mandolin, and classical voice to perform art song, salon music, and new arrangements of diverse ethnic folk traditions.”

After the ballots were counted and recounted, Epperson announced the result of a surprising tie between Rebecca Johnson of RVA Audio and Nicole Lang of Dollop Desserts!
The next Feast RVA is scheduled for Sunday January 15th. For more information visit the Feast RVA website. If you or anyone you know is interested in having a project funded, please review the criteria and submit your idea here!
I was going through tumblr and found these pictures from last month’s Dirty Richmond’s 2 Year Anniversary Party. The night was a lot of fun and I felt so honored that so many of you came out to help celebrate! Thank you everyone that was there, and everyone that intended to be there. Hopefully there will be more anniversaries and parties to come.

The grand opening of The Limited’s new Richmond store was held earlier this month at Short Pump Town Center. The event was attended by a full spectrum of stylish individuals, shoppers, and even the company’s CEO, Linda Heasley! Featuring wood floors, taupe walls, and a glass chandelier, the store brings an upscale shopping experience to regional Limited stores.

From Richmond food blogger and winner of Feast RVA, Nicole Lang’s Pimento Cheese, Please! premieres Wednesday night at the at The Hipprodrome. Pimento Cheese, Please! is a documentary about the great southern spread exploring the people that make it, serve it, and the different types of folks who eat it!
