Walking through the the moldy corridors of an abandoned building is not how I normally spend my mornings, however this is a common pastime for the team behind Decayed Richmond. In a city known for its large volume of abandoned structures, the movement known as urban exploring has a solid community within the city and local region. “I didn’t know what I was doing had a name; I was just a bored kid enthralled by half-demolished buildings and climbing onto rooftops. Finding beauty in these decayed buildings was always easy for me. It’s such a profound thing to discover a structure that has been reclaimed by nature, artists, and the rest of the surrounding community.” Decayed Richmond is a tumblr that I have enthusiastically followed for sometime, and these are a few behind the scenes pictures from a collaboration that we worked on at the end of the summer.

Decayed Richmond is on tumblr and follow their great blog of urban exploring. The team is currently working on a feature length documentary which is completely Richmond inspired not only featuring the structures they explore but everything encompassing this local culture. For anyone interested, preview a clip of the teaser [here].
Pictures from the collaboration will be posted throughout the day and [click here] for how you could win an 11x17 print from Decayed Richmond!
Leslie’s style video by Bree Davis.
At Leslie’s.
Not only is she a talented fashion design major at VCU, Leslie is one of the nicest people living in Richmond. Whenever I happen to run into her at a show or where she works, she is all smiles and such a pleasure to be around. Leslie invited Bree and me over to her antique embellished apartment for an afternoon of chatting and to film the next STYLE VIDEO. These are a few pictures from the shoot.

Visit Dirty Richmond tomorrow for the premiere of Leslie’s style video!
Dirty Richmond and Hit Play Productions team up to bring you What’s Your Deal?, a fashion series that asks Richmonder’s that question. This is a promo from the footage we got at the amazing RVA Music Fest. A longer feature is to come.
