The idea behind Feast RVA is simple; donate $25 for a catered dinner by Sticky To-Go-Go and Cellar Door, receive drinks, listen to 3 pitches, and vote ballot style to choose a winner to receive $500 to help fund their creative project. Inspired by a similar initiative in Brooklyn, Johnny Hugel and Josh Epperson thought of bringing FEAST to Richmond as a way to help bring the city together and to identify and reward the variety of creative projects coming out of Richmond, Virginia. Before dinner, Rebecca Johnson, Anna Wittel, and Nicole Lang each presented their perspective projects to an attentive audience with support of audio, visual, and even edible accompaniment.
While discussing the projects over dinner, music was provided by “The Bird and her Consort” featuring Antonia Begonia, The Bird, and her husband, Jonathan Vassar. As described on their website: “They use their talents with accordion, guitar, mandolin, and classical voice to perform art song, salon music, and new arrangements of diverse ethnic folk traditions.”
The next Feast RVA is scheduled for Sunday January 15th. For more information visit the Feast RVA website. If you or anyone you know is interested in having a project funded, please review the criteria and submit your idea here!
