I met the three friends that started this blog the night of the opening at Gallery5. They post pictures of shoes and that is all. Novelty Shoes started from nothing more than a pair of shoes on some feet. Shoes have their own character and a story to tell, some of which remain untold.
There are some places in Richmond that have become a huge part of my life since moving here almost four years ago. Panda Veg (RIP), The Byrd Theatre, Ipanema, and Rumors. I live less than a block away and their blog always keeps readers updated on art, what’s going on in Richmond, what you’ve missed out on, their travels, and whatever else they feel like blogging about. Following their tumblr may be the best decision you make all year!
There is weave everywhere! One day, two friends started photographing the weaves they randomly came across in Richmond, and a blog was born. If you come across a random strand of weave on the sidewalk, feel free to photograph it and send it to this blog.
A year ago I never would’ve imagined I’d be a part of an opening on First Friday, especially at Gallery5! It was really awesome collaborating with Matt, and I’m forever grateful for the astounding effort that he put into this. What we created was an installation that was oddly familiar, massive, and fully interactive. I couldn’t be any more proud of the way it turned out. Also, thank you to Tiara Murphy and Gallery5 for inviting Dirty Richmond to be a part of the Model Citizen First Friday’s Art Walk. Also, thanks to everyone who came out to Gallery5, and everyone that happen to stumble on the opening last Friday. It was nice to see you all! If you weren’t able to make it to the opening, the instillation will be up for two more weeks.
