Where are you from?

I’m from West Virginia. It took us FOREVER to get here. We had to stop a lot, so it took us around six hours. I study painting and print making at West Virginia University.

This line is getting long, but you are lucky enough to be in the front.  How long have you been waiting?

Since 6 a.m.

Why so early if it is assigned seating?

Its general admissions. So we have to run to the front as soon as the doors open.

Tell me about what you are wearing.

I got this skirt from Claire’s. A girl gave me a bunch of these little Barbie dresses so I glued them all over me.

Is this your first time seeing Lady Gaga?

Yes! This isn’t my usual scene so I’m excited.

What are you going to do tomorrow?

Sleep and recover. I have a critique tomorrow so I’m going to roll in right as it starts.

Where are you from?

Beltsville, Maryland. When I was 19 I moved down to Miami. I love it there; the beach, hot weather, hot girls; everything is hot down there.

Is Richmond different from Miami?

Completely, the weather, there’s no beach here, and people don’t pay as much for tattoos. I haven’t been everywhere, but as far as the East Coast, there is no place like South Beach.

So what is the first thing you are going to do when you get back?

Well, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. I don’t like it there, but that is where my girl is from.

So how did you get into tattooing?

I didn’t get my first tattoo until I was 18. I was a late bloomer. Then, I bought a kit off line and my dude Jose from High School wanted something done on his finger, so I did it. It came out all right, I mean it sucked, but it came out all right. Then I was doing things like that for awhile until I eventually got an apprenticeship in Miami, and got to work with 7 or 8 of the best artists. So I just learned from them.

How many tattoos do you think you will get before you die?

(Laughter) I mean, I don’t know when I’m going to die but I want to get everything except for my face, head and stomach.

So what are you getting next?

I’m getting a parrot on my arm with a pirate hat and a peg leg. I’m also getting a Waldo, so when I finish everything, it will be like Where’s Waldo.

How long are you going to be in town?

Till Sunday but I’ll be back.
